Immortelle
Also known as helichrysum, the immortelle is a small flowering plant that thrives in the sun-baked Mediterranean regions of Europe. Its aroma shares facets with fenugreek, turmeric, and maple syrup, due to mutual compounds such as sotolon and curcumene. In perfumes, it is quite often synthetic, due to the high cost of the absolute. Immortelle gives a rich, spiced character and is used in orientals and aromatic fragrances as a tenacious base note.
