Lavender

Growing easily in sunny spots all around the world, the majority of lavender for perfumery is cultivated in France. Multiple varieties are used, each of these having their own distinctive qualities.

Due to its popularity in aromatherapy and traditional fragrances, lavender is one of the most recognisable perfume ingredients. Perhaps because of this, lavender ‘soliflores’ are sometimes considered to be slightly old-fashioned, but yet this material remains a critical note in many florals, fougères, colognes and aromatic fragrances.

Lavender can be described as herbal, minty, floral, fruity and spicy - and all this from one common little purple flower!
