Pepper

The berries of Piper nigrum, also known as peppercorns, can be green, white, red or black, depending on how they are processed. Considered a spice, peppercorns have a pungent, woody aroma. Pepper can be used as an essential oil, absolute, or CO2 extract.  

Pink pepper is an unrelated species, though it does share some characteristics in appearance and taste.
