Derviche
OUR VERDICT
Cherry Cola | Sweet | Rich
The mystery of the summer night sky over an exotic land.
"The original inspiration for Derviche was Emeraude de Coty, of which it smells nothing like! I wanted a rich old-school oriental amber fragrance with a bergamot opening but with the power of many of the fragrances coming from the Arabic perfume houses.”
Derviche is one of those fragrances with an ‘unofficial’ accord - where the community picks up on a combination of ingredients that have a combined effect, whether intentional or otherwise. A famous example might be Estee Lauder’s Youth Dew with its Cola accord, which may have been intentional due to the bottle shape and juice colour. Another example is the petroleum note in Dior’s Fahrenheit. In Derviche, many people have noted a smell akin to cherry cola or cherry syrup, which perhaps derives from a combination of tobacco, amber, bergamot and jasmine.
This effect is only part of the picture. Derviche is an opulent Amber with a healthy dose of citrus in the top, plenty of beautiful jasmine, and a solid foundation of powerhouse materials in the base.
