Carrot Seed
What might seem at first to be a strange ingredient for use in perfumery, carrot seed oil is often used in combination with the far more expensive orris butter in order to add another dimension (and keep costs down).
Carrot seed oil is primarily produced in France and brings an earthy, rooty, powdery character to a fragrance. It's typically not a star note in a composition, but rather a very useful supporting act.
