Product Information

All written content on this website and our social media platforms is sourced from official sources or created by us. ‘Our Verdict’ signifies our assessment of the fragrance based on our experience and evaluation. Differences in customer assessments may be due to:

  • Age of Product and Oxygenation: Fragrances, especially niche ones with complex natural materials, can vary in smell and performance depending on exposure to oxygen. Most fragrance houses allow fragrances to macerate before release, and the time can vary. A sample vial exposed to more oxygen than a new bottle may smell and perform differently. We recommend using a new bottle several times to introduce some oxygen, allowing it to ‘awaken’ and smell as intended.

  • Natural Variation: Natural materials can vary based on harvesting, distillation, and processing methods. While perfumers try to account for these differences, there may still be variations in the final product.

  • Skin: Fragrances can perform and smell differently on different individuals due to skin oils, acidity, and pores. We suggest sampling a fragrance first where possible. At Revelette, we assess fragrances both on skin and blotter cards.

  • Weather: External factors like heat and humidity can influence how a fragrance smells and performs.

  • Olfactory Fatigue: If a fragrance seems weaker or lacks longevity, it may be due to olfactory fatigue. Ask someone else how it smells, or take a break from fragrances for a few days and try again. Applying fragrance to the neck or chest can cause olfactory fatigue, as can over-application.

  • Anosmia: Some people are anosmic to certain molecules, such as musks. Perfumers use multiple types of musks to ensure the fragrance can be experienced by as many people as possible. Differences in perception may be due to an inability to smell a main ingredient.

  • Subjectiveness: Despite our efforts to describe fragrances objectively, subjectivity is inevitable due to the strong connection between smell and memory. We strongly suggest sampling a fragrance before purchasing.

Video and Podcast Reviews

Our video and podcast reviews are based on our experience and evaluation. We encourage you to test or sample fragrances yourself before purchasing.

Our Opinions

Any opinions expressed are made in good faith to assist customers in finding the right fragrance. We will never intentionally discredit any brands or fragrances and thoroughly research all stated facts. If you find any incorrect information, please contact us for correction.

Pre-Orders

Pre-orders allow customers to secure new or restocked products. Estimated dates are provided but may change. Orders containing pre-orders will be shipped once all items are in stock. For immediate dispatch of in-stock products, please place separate orders.

Brand Descriptions

Product descriptions and notes are generally sourced from the brand's official information and reflect the brand's inspiration and creative intentions. Due to perfume's subjective nature, these descriptions may not always match customer experiences. Official notes are not an ingredients list; multiple raw materials may create a specific note or accord. We suggest sampling before purchasing.

Tracking / Postage

Once a tracking number is issued, your order is packed, processed, and ready for collection by Australia Post. During high order volumes, tracking numbers may be issued while actively processing orders, leading to possible cancellations and refunds. Tracking updates will occur once Australia Post collects and scans the parcel. Orders with Express Post are subject to the same processing timeframes as standard orders (see our Shipping page for further details).

Safety & Allergen Precautions

We strive to offer perfumes that are safe to wear but cannot predict individual allergic reactions. If you have allergic tendencies, test perfumes on a small skin area first. If you develop any allergic reactions, discontinue use immediately. Follow these safety guidelines:

  • Perfumes are flammable. Avoid application near fire, flame, heat, or while smoking.
  • For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and do not ingest.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not apply to sensitive, broken, or inflamed skin. Discontinue use if irritation develops.
  • Avoid applying to sun-exposed areas. Essential oils and alcohol in perfumes can cause rashes or burns when exposed to the sun.
  • If you have sensitive skin, wear the fragrance on clothing or fabric.

Packaging

Revelette wishes to advise that many independent and artisanal perfume brands prioritize the quality of the fragrance over packaging. Some fragrances may come in generic bottles with handmade labels. Conversely, some brands invest in elaborate packaging. Revelette values both approaches and offers a range of products.

Faulty Atomisers

If you receive a new fragrance with a faulty atomiser, contact us for a replacement and return arrangement. For atomisers that become faulty after reasonable use, we suggest:

  • Soaking the sprayer in hot water or isopropyl alcohol to dissolve blockages.
  • Holding the bottle upside down and spraying to clear blockages.
  • Checking for debris if the sprayer head is detachable.
  • Replacing the sprayer head with another that fits.
  • Using a syringe to push air into the bottle or extract liquid to decant into another bottle.
