Styrax

Styrax, also known as storax, is the resin from the Liquidambar tree. It’s often confused with benzoin, which comes from the genus Styrax.

Styrax contains styrene (a precursor to polystyrene), and it has a leathery, almost plasticky scent, as wall as warm, balsamic notes and a touch of vanilla.
