Benzoin

A gum with sweet and caramelized facets from plants in the genus Styrax. Benzoin is invaluable in the construction of a warm, soft amber accord with facets of incense and vanilla. Pairs great with almost any other resin and balsam and is a great fixative. 

For obvious reasons, benzoin is often confused with styrax, which comes from the unrelated Liquidambar tree.
